About the Compliance Analyst role: This role is dynamic and challenging, in an exciting time to be in the energy sector. With every day bringing new challenges, the Compliance Analyst will have the chance to grow and develop their skills while fostering the compliance culture of the business.
This role will work on compliance and economic regulatory matters involving the Australia Energy Regulator (AER), Essential Services Commission (ESC), Australian Energy Market Commission and government departments.
As part of the Regulation team, you will work in a high performing section responsible for the businesses' economic compliance and regulatory policy. Your day to day includes working with key internal and external stakeholders, developing strategic advice and running robust audit and assessment processes to meet the compliance obligations of the business.

What you'll deliver: Provide analysis and advice on general compliance, economic and regulatory related matters to stakeholders.Assist in the management of compliance issues that arise internally or with regulatory bodies, which may include the provision of analysis, insights, options and/or coordination of those issues.Prepare and issue questionnaires which assess our compliance status against all regulatory obligations in our register on an annual basis. Collate, interpret, and analyse the results of the questionnaire.Maintain breach registers and support the business in implementation of breach remediation activities for non-compliances identified through the compliance questionnaire, or through other internal reporting processes.Provide analysis and support for responses to regulator queries, complaints, consultations, as well as reporting obligations. Undertake or oversee internal targeted reviews of regulatory obligations as required.Assist in designing and conducting internal audits of regulatory compliance processes to identify areas for improvement. Coordinate any external audits such as ring-fencing or ESC thematic audits.Coordinate and lead monthly meetings with internal stakeholders to monitor, identify, investigate, or strengthen controls associated with compliance with the AER's ring-fencing guideline.Review, coordinate and ensure timely submission of compliance performance reporting requirements.Undertake regulatory compliance education programs across our businesses, including for ring-fencing and as part of the induction process for new starters.To succeed in the role you'll have: An interest in energy and delivery for our customers through the energy transition.An understanding of regulatory environments, including the obligations that govern a regulated business's behaviour and operations.Previous experience in a compliance or audit role within a regulated business, or experience working for government departments or regulators is desirable.A tertiary qualification in either business, economics, law or engineering.Good attention to detail and familiarity with legal interpretation.Demonstrated understanding of the compliance reporting requirements of an economic regulator, such as the AER and ESC, would be highly advantageous.Your career with us: We foster diverse teams across our business, all contributing to great customer and community outcomes.
