The existing diversity of the business portfolio demands from the claims role specialized expertise in the different business areas. The A&H claims team works with the business to support a wide array of products and offerings, through a complex and highly demanding distribution force and network. Claims has the responsibility of delivering and materializing the product offer and promise.About the roleWhat you need to know:The primary purpose of the job is to investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle the marine/specialty/property claims cases by collecting and analyzing data according to policy application and/or contract provisions. Determine whether to accept or deny a claim based on all documentation received. Typical claims include policy cancelations due to non-pay denial letter required. Significant emphasis is made on loss mitigation (i.e. salvage and subrogation). Aside from claim service and client management, this aspect of the role is key for the profitability of the marine line of business. The incumbent will be asked to properly establish a solid position before liable third parties.What we're looking for:Adequate specialist knowledge (LoB) in technical claims matters as listed below:Medium to advanced knowledge of marine claims handling.Knowledge of policy terminology that enables accurate and systematic interpretation of policy wording.Basic to medium knowledge of legal/regulatory requirements and litigation/procedures for your line of business, with some degree of experience in negotiation, mediation, arbitration and ADR skills. Solid experience in negotiation in relation to claims of intermediate to high complexity is required, and knowledge, experience in mediation, arbitration and alternative dispute resolution is a plus.Experience in effectively following up on technical claims audit recommendations and continuous improvement in claims handling is a plus.Reimagining insurance to make a bigger difference to the worldAmerican International Group, Inc.
