ABOUT THE ROLE This is an exciting time for the Big Bash with a key role available in our Competition Development Team. We are looking for someone to join us in the Competition Support Lead role, playing a crucial role in supporting CA's strategy enhancing and growing the BBL and WBBL as leading competitions with world class support systems and mechanisms.
The Competition Support Lead role is accountable for key competition operations areas including player contracting, player logistics, player movement and League competitive balance policies and initiatives.

Reporting to the Head of Competition Development and Strategy, Big Bash Leagues you will be responsible for:
End-to-end management of the player contracting program for both leaguesLead annual discussion on player contracting rules, policies and initiatives and oversee club implementation throughout the year.Manage the player contracting process and enforcement of the salary cap (including recommendations to CA integrity for non-compliance issues).Liaise with Big Bash General Managers and State High Performance Managers in relation to all contracting matters and Additional Services Agreements (ASAs).Assist clubs with player logistics requirements with a focus on overseas players (e.g. travel, migration, squad selection).Manage Club compliance requirements under the MOU, TPA (and any related documentation), relevant Guidelines, and selected bespoke projects/initiatives across relevant Competition operations areas.Conduct annual review and recommendation of changes to the W/BBL Player Contracting and Remuneration Rules.Manage end to end processes for W/BBL Trade Periods annually.Providing contracting compliance support and expertise to Clubs across both leaguesManage pre and post season reporting, compliance and assessment components to monitor player and Club obligations under relevant W/BBL Rules.Support Clubs with their administrative management of and response to any processes related to breaches of compliance requirements.Develop and deliver appropriate communication and education to Clubs and player agents to ensure ongoing compliance with the salary cap and W/BBL Rules.Manage the relationship between Clubs and the CA Integrity Unit / Legal Team with respect to relevant League Operations areas to facilitate desired outputs/requirements and to monitor seasonal changes to the W/BBL Player Contracting and Remuneration Rules.Manage the ASA reconciliation process including liaison with Clubs, Legal and Integrity in relation to non-compliance matters.Lead the W/BBL Technical Committee.The planning and technical execution of the annual Big Bash Overseas Player Drafts including talent optimisation and player experienceLead planning and technical execution of overseas player draft alongside Big Bash events team including player nomination periods.Develop strong relationships with global player agents to ensure the WBBL and BBL are a destination of choice for the world's best players.Liaise with Overseas Boards and high-performance divisions in relation to players participating in the Big Bash.Support Clubs and players with regards to relevant player logistics (e.g. procuring visa approvals, travel advice and support).Driving mutually beneficial strategies and innovations between the league, players association and clubsIdentify and investigate new and innovative contracting and remuneration models for the WBBL and BBL to optimise the quality and performance of players and the fair and equitable distribution of talent across League as a key pillar of competitive balance.Contribution to (and occasionally leading) complex negotiations with players, agents and the ACA with regards to the implementation of new contracting and remuneration models.Work with Clubs and ACA to put in place relevant initiatives and strategies to ensure players have the best possible experience each season.Develop and deliver reports/insights containing required statistics and analysis of player contracts, salary caps, retainer amounts and contracting processes.Ensure the League and Clubs fully leverage all commercial and promotional opportunities with players including contractual deliverables.Providing high level data and analytics capability across the Big Bash League eco-systemWorking with Big Bash competition development team to identify and analyse meaningful match data across key competition metrics (e.g. match scores, POTM, power play effectiveness, player performance and trends) to assist with growth of both competitions.Leading projects/initiatives to capture and analyse data to improve player contracting and club list management programs.Developing these analytics/insights into effective presentations and communications material to facilitate their socialisation and action across relevant stakeholders.WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR Qualifications ·Formal education requirements, example: Tertiary qualifications (Bachelor's or Master's degree) in Business or Sport related discipline.
Essential skills, competencies and experience ·Experience in managing the planning, development and delivery of club contracting programs.
·Experience in a similar and complex environment within Australia and/or globally.
·Appreciation and understanding of federated sporting governance models.
·Outstanding stakeholder relationship skills.
·Clear thinker whilst managing disparate and diverse business requirements, including the ability to manage tensions and trade-offs.
·Demonstrated leadership, collaboration skills as well as excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills.
Desirable skills, competencies and experience ·Extensive cricket knowledge.
·Established high performance system relationships across Australia and globally.
·Experience across different disciplines, including journalism, marketing and commercial.
·Strong data analytics and modelling skills.
·Previous experience in managing competition operational environments.
