Ongoing, full-time position based in GeelongPromote offender rehabilitation through meaningful community workSalary Range $74,581 - $82,571 plus superannuationAbout us Corrections Victoria's purpose is to deliver an effective corrections system for a safe community. Community Correctional Services (CCS) is overseen by Corrections Victoria, a division of the Department of Justice and Community Safety.
CCS is responsible for the management and supervision of prisoners on parole, clients under post sentence supervision and court orders. The goal is to help offenders follow court orders, providing support and follow up when they are at risk of non-successful completion. CCS contributes to community safety by using strategies to reduce reoffending, encouraging participants to take responsibility, and connecting them with programs and services.
About the role As a Community Work Officer, you will be responsible for providing community work opportunities and contracts to enable offenders to complete their community work hours and orders successfully. You will administer relevant community work practices including monitoring attendance and compliance with requirements at community work placements, and contracting offenders to appropriate local community work sites.
You will build and maintain effective relationships with Community Work Supervisors (field staff), community work partners and other relevant stakeholders, produce reports and standard documentation in line with procedural guidelines and undertake on-site risk assessments or other occupational health and safety processes as required.
To be successful in this role you will: strive for service excellence, with excellent interpersonal and communication skillsbe able to self-manage, using available information to make sound, timely and well-informed decisionsbe flexible and adaptable to changehave computer proficiency, including in the use of the Microsoft Office suite, electronic document management systems and internal databases.Relevant experience in a related community services, not for profit or community development field is also desirable.
