Community Paediatric Dietitian NHS AfC: Band 6 Job overview We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated Dietitian who would like to develop their skills in paediatric dietetics. You will be working alongside and supported by our Band 7 Paediatric Dietitians to deliver the dietetic service to our paediatric patients in a variety of settings including community clinics, special schools, child development centres, and patients' own homes.
Your caseload will be varied and include allergy, faltering growth, ARFID, autism, nutrition support, and enteral feeding. You will regularly be required to travel and must therefore have the ability to attend sites across a defined geographical area to meet the needs of the service.
In addition to this, you will have the opportunity to plan and deliver training to other professionals from a variety of backgrounds e.g. health, education, and social services.
This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience and contribute to the delivery and development of a comprehensive community paediatric dietetic service in Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
You will provide a comprehensive and quality dietetic service for all infants and children across the paediatric range (0-19 years) within South Staffordshire and East Staffordshire area for Home Enteral Feeding, in accordance with the Service Specification.

Person specification Qualifications BSc Degree or Postgraduate Diploma in Dietetics approved by the British Dietetic Association Health and Care Professions Council Registration as Dietitian Member of the British Dietetic Association Member of specialist interest groups e.g. Paediatric group, etc. Knowledge Knowledge of health and social care legislation and guidelines e.g. Department of Health documents, National clinical guidelines and application to Dietetic practice Competency in provision of Dietetics in line with current best practice. Knowledge of dietetics within the NHS Knowledge of the dietary requirements of children to promote healthy growth and development. A knowledge of working with children (and their families) with specific dietary needs including failure to thrive, complex feeding difficulties, allergies, enteral feeding ARFID, and autism. Work Experience Relevant experience of general post-registration clinical dietetics in the NHS. Demonstrate ability to contribute to the development of information e.g., leaflets, audit, or other evaluation of own dietetic work Experience of providing training and education for others (patients/carers, health professionals, and other community health workers from various organisations external to health). Experience of multi-disciplinary team working and coordinating care. Awareness of different safeguarding (adult/children) issues. Dietetic management of paediatric patients. Experience of working in Primary Care/Community settings. Skills Demonstrate highly developed written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to adapt this appropriately for the target audience (e.g. patients, health professionals, Trust management teams, etc.). Demonstrate presentation skills and the ability to work effectively with individuals and groups. Demonstrate highly developed skills such as cognitive behavioural therapy, motivational interviewing, and dietetic counselling to initiate change/overcome barriers to change Excellent interpersonal skills. Demonstrate the ability to organise and manage a clinical caseload. Demonstrate the ability to plan and organise the receipt of patients in to the community who require home enteral feeding coordinating patient care with relevant healthcare professionals, other agencies, etc. Initiating multi-disciplinary team meetings when appropriate.
