WHALE Arts is looking for a hardworking, experienced Community Garden Coordinator with excellent people skills, to manage our Community Garden, and support community members and volunteers.
Salary: £24,000 per year - pro rata
Hours: 14 hours per week
Fixed Term Contract: April 2025
Location: WHALE Arts, 30 Westburn Grove, Edinburgh EH74NW
This fixed-term contracted post will support WHALE Arts in delivering community gardening and horticulture-related activities and, in co-designing our outdoor greenspace.
The role includes maintaining the WHALE Arts Community Garden and delivering horticulture-related activities, working with local community members and volunteers to support their ongoing development and working closely with the Community Meal Chef and Volunteer Coordinator to ensure a joined-up and supportive approach to cooking, gardening and volunteering at WHALE Arts.
Main Duties include:
Maintaining and developing the WHALE Arts Community Garden.
To lead in co-designing and developing a Community Kitchen Garden following a consultation process with local community members.
To support, instruct and work alongside volunteers/community members in gardening and horticulture-related activities.
To organise and oversee activities, events, and maintenance tasks related to the WHALE Arts garden.
To ensure health and safety procedures are followed during all gardening and horticulture-related activities.
To work closely with the Community Meal Chef and Volunteer Coordinator to integrate gardening, volunteering and community food-related activities at WHALE Arts.
To promote sustainability within the garden and related activities.
To work closely with local partner organisations.
