Community Engagement Volunteer (Auburn)

To assist the Community Engagement team in event and program delivery, coordination, administration and/or support tasks.Days and hours required per week:Wednesdays, 5 hours per week - 10 AM to 3 PM including a 30 minutes lunch break.Location:Auburn Centre for Community, AuburnCommitment Period:Minimum 6 monthsDuties and Responsibilities:Community Engagement Volunteers support the Community Engagement Team to deliver a range of quality activities and events such as soccer training, drama classes, sewing groups, walking tours, excursions, surveys, free ticket distribution, school holiday programs, and large celebrations.Tasks may include:Performing client registration processes prior to the activity and/or on the day of the activityEnsuring that clients have all the information required to meaningfully participate in events and programs of interestAttending Community Engagement activities and events, ensuring that a warm and inclusive environment is enjoyed by all participantsAssisting with event set-up and pack downEnsuring that any wellbeing or safety concerns pertaining to clients are promptly shared with the appropriate ASC StaffConnecting participants to the appropriate ASC service such as the Health, Employment or Intensive Supports where they are in attendance, or advising the appropriate ASC person for follow upAssessing activity sites for hazards, responding to, and reporting hazards to ASC staff in a timely mannerSupport ASC processes to seek feedback on ASC programs and services e.g. surveys, recording ad hoc suggestionsCoordinating opportunities to distribute free tickets to performances or shows and communicating outcomes to applicants and staffContributing to the development of the assigned program in close collaboration with the coordinating staff member e.g. identify safe walking tracks for the bushwalksOther as reasonably requested by the Line ManagerSelection Criteria:Experience in working with people from various backgrounds and cultures.Strong organisational and time management skills.Excellent interpersonal communication skills including active listening skills and the ability to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for people seeking asylum.Ability to work collaboratively with other staff and volunteers.Flexibility and willingness to take on extra tasks as appropriate.Ability to adhere to policies in relation to code of conduct, boundaries and confidentiality.Positive attitude and proactive approach to program development.Desirable:Intermediate computer skills (confidence in using Google Workspace, the internet and emails).Familiarity with databases and/or ability to learn.First Aid Certificate with a current CPR component.Experience in managing and delivering events and community activities.General Conditions:Adhere to ASC's vision, purpose and values.Act at all times in accordance with ASC's Code of Conduct and Child Protection Policies.Comply with Work, Health and Safety systems.Comply with Incident Management Procedures and emergency protocols.Demonstrate a respectful and welcoming behaviour with all people at ASC in culturally appropriate ways.Have received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccination.Undertake a NSW Working with Children Check prior to commencement and ensure it is up-to-date.Support a child-safe organisation by undertaking screening for suitability to work with children and vulnerable people and to comply with relevant state/territory legislative requirements.
