Mercy Services is a values-based organisation operating in the Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and Hunter regions of NSW to provide individualised holistic and integrated care for the frail aged, the impaired and their carers.
To align with our growth strategy in the Home and Community Care Team and to support our growing home care and NDIS clients, we are looking for casual staff.
About the Role The role of Community Care Assistant (CCA) undertakes a wide range of duties from the provision of high level personal care to household cleaning to support people within their own homes. Other duties may involve showering, dressing, cooking, grocery shopping and supporting with medical appointments and socialising in the community.
We have casual opportunities available across Monday - Thursday as well as occasional weekend work. This role requires flexibility to work a morning or afternoon/evening shift, either starting at 7am or finishing at 7pm - it will not suit someone looking to work in school hours. There is excellent potential for permanent part-time employment and further training.
Ideally, you will be able to travel to appointments located throughout the East Lake Macquarie or south Charlestown region. All kms travelled between appointments will be paid.
Minimum Requirements To be successful for these positions you must possess:
Previous experience providing personal care and social services to aged and vulnerable people in their homes Current First Aid Certificate, successful Police Check and clear NDIS Clearance Current drivers licence and reliable motor vehicle (vehicle registered and comprehensively insured) Desirable Qualifications Desirable would be;
Certificate III in Home and Community Care (Aged Care) or equivalent. Have or be willing to obtain an Assist with Medication unit competency Personal Qualities We are looking for someone to join the team who has;
A genuine passion for helping people Effective verbal and written communication skills Ability to liaise with a wide range of customers from diverse social and cultural backgrounds Professionalism and alignment with the values and ethos of Mercy Services Ability to work independently and effectively manage time. Proficient in use of electronic technology including smart phones, email and internet Employment Screening As part of our Employment screening process you will be required to undertake a National Criminal Record Check, NDIS clearance and Working With Children Check.
