About the RoleWe are seeking a highly organised and motivated individual to join our team in Wangaratta, in the role of Community Based Bushfire Management Facilitator. This exciting role is central to enhancing community engagement and fostering inter-agency collaboration in bushfire management. It will focus on identifying tailored solutions for local challenges and involves facilitating the Community Based Bushfire Management (CBBM) program to enhance community safety and reduce bushfire risk. You will collaborate closely with key partners such as Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA), local government and community organisations to align with the implementation of the Victorian Government's Safer Together policy.Responsibilities of this role include: Promoting community centred initiatives that enhance resilience and assist in adapting to climate changes.Encourage local participation in bushfire management.Foster collaboration with multiple agencies and local communities.Facilitate meetings with regional CFA teams and larger networks across various agencies. This role works closely with and is supported by a CBBM Coordinator who coordinates and assists community-based bushfire management efforts across partner agencies at the state level.About You Tertiary qualifications in social science/community development, and/or 3+years equivalent experience in community development and place-based approaches.Demonstrated understanding and application of evidence-based community development, disaster resilience approaches, and community engagement practices and principles.Capacity to design, enable and facilitate strengths-based, community-centred practice that encourages collaborative learning and innovation with communities and relevant stakeholders.Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to form and maintain genuine relationships and partnerships to build trust and work collaboratively on community-centred projects.Strong verbal and written communication skills, with substantial experience using various facilitation methods to exchange ideas, insights and impact in face-to-face and virtual environments.Demonstrated skills in managing time, setting priorities, planning and reporting to achieve specific and set objectives.
