About the job The Community Awareness Officer will develop, deliver and evaluate community awareness, engagement, and youth participation programs and activities in the local area with a focus on promoting early help-seeking for mental health and other health/social issues facing young people at headspace Sunshine.
Reporting to the Clinical Services Manager you will: Develop and deliver programs to increase mental health literacy and reduce stigma within the community.
Raise awareness of headspace services among young people, families, and the local community.
Coordinate youth engagement initiatives, including forming youth reference groups and peer work programs.
Build and maintain partnerships with schools, agencies, and the community to enhance referral pathways and collaboration.
Manage online presence, social media, and regular Youth Advisory Group meetings to promote headspace activities.
Skills and experience The following criteria must be met for consideration for this position: Tertiary qualifications in the social or health sciences, community development or a related field, and/or substantial relevant experience in a similar field.
Experience with development and delivery of youth participation and community development programs, including the planning, provision and evaluation of group interventions for young people and their families and friends.
Experience and understanding of mental health, drug and alcohol and other health/social issues facing young people.
Previous experience providing leadership and/ or supervision, including to young people.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, time management, planning and computer skills.
