Community and Household Readiness OfficerCarers NSW is the peak organisation for carers in NSW. We are a not-for-profit organisation connecting and empowering carers across NSW and improving their quality of life through activities, programs, training and policy advice. We advocate for carers of all ages and circumstances.Carers NSW is seeking a candidate that is well connected in the community to join us as a Community & Household Readiness Officer. You will consult and collaborate with the local Gunnedah community to better prepare for emergencies.As a Community & Household Readiness Officer, you will liaise with key stakeholders to identify opportunities to improve the inclusion of people with disabilities, older people, and carers in natural disaster planning and responses in the Gunnedah local government area (LGA). This will include rolling out the developed toolkit that supports individuals to identify and reduce risks to their household and plan for safe evacuation and recovery in the event of a natural disaster.This opportunity will have a positive and meaningful impact on the local community and will appeal to you if you are passionate about supporting others.This position is a full-time contract role till May 2025, based on funding.The ideal candidate should possess the following skills and attributes:Extensive knowledge and understanding of social services, aged care/disability systems including the local networks of services available in the regionExperience in community engagement, assessment, and referral processes ideally gained across a culturally diverse group or a geographically diverse areaCertification in Person-Centred Emergency Preparedness (P-CEP) facilitator trainingAn understanding of social services, aged care/disability systems including the local networks of services available in the regionAbility to establish rapport with well-developed written and oral communication skillsKnowledge of social and demographic features, common challenges, and geography of part or all of the Gunnedah regionAbility to work autonomously whilst still meeting the operational and delivery needs of the businessUnderstanding of and commitment to carer issues and needsEmployment Requirements:Satisfactory Police CheckCurrent Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain one)Proof of COVID-19 VaccinationRights to live and work in AustraliaSalary and BenefitsThe Salary is $95K + super.
