Apply now Job no: 500335 Work type: Part time Location: Hobart Categories: Administration, Project Management & Support, Community & Engagement About the opportunity The Communications Officer will lead the communications of ACEAS under the broad direction of the Director to enhance the visibility of ACEAS research and researchers.
The Officer will plan, develop and distribute news, web, and social media stories focused on ACEAS research and researchers.
This includes pre-planning stories covering the first marine science voyage aboard the RSV Nuyina and other Antarctic fieldwork activity.
What you'll do: Promote world-leading ACEAS research outputs, outcomes and activities to the public and policymakers.Create and deliver a plan for coverage of ACEAS work on the 2025 Denman Marine Voyage to the Denman Glacier.Coordinate impact-focused briefing documents for policymakers.Lead training of ACEAS staff in science communications.What we're looking for: Tertiary qualifications in a science, information or communications discipline.Demonstrated record of achievement in science communications and/or public affairs.Experience identifying, producing, and delivering creative media stories from novel angles, ideally within a science or research context.Demonstrated experience in storytelling through social and other visual media, ideally along with proficiency in using editing software, to produce high-quality content that captivates audiences.Overall, we're looking for outstanding science communicators, and you are encouraged to apply even if you don't have equal experience across all areas.
Salary details Appointment to this role will be at HEO 7 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $126,637 pro-rata comprising base salary within the range of $98,473 to $108,237 pro-rata plus 17% superannuation.
