Victoria's Housing Statement The Activity Centre Program is a key Housing Statement initiative, to deliver more homes close to services, jobs, and transport across Melbourne. Increasing housing choice in places that are well-located and maximise use of existing infrastructure and transport is a key priority to support the liveability and sustainability of our neighbourhoods and communities. We are introducing new planning controls in 10 pilot activity centres, allowing an additional 60,000 homes to be built. 25 new activity centres near train stations or trams have been added to the pilot program currently underway.

About the Role The Communications and Engagement Manager – Activity Centres will lead a fast-paced communications and engagement team for the delivery of the Victorian Government's Activity Centres Program (the Program), a key initiative of Victoria's Housing Statement. Working with key internal stakeholders to project manage the design and delivery of communications and engagement strategies, the successful candidate will lead a small team responsible for all aspects of communications and engagement, including project management, content development, collateral design and delivery, reports, procurement and contract management of suppliers and the identification and resolution of issues.
Position Outcomes
The Communications and Engagement Manager identifies strategic challenges and opportunities within the Activity Centre Program, leading the development and delivery of related communications and engagement strategies. They establish and maintain effective relationships with policy teams, senior executives, and cross-government stakeholders to ensure alignment with program needs.
This role manages the procurement and contract oversight of suppliers and service providers, adhering to departmental and government policies. The manager leads a dynamic communications team responsible for project management, content development, and collateral design and delivery.
They proactively address issues and risks, involving relevant stakeholders and escalating to senior executives as needed. Regular briefings and reports are provided to stakeholders and decision-makers.
The manager produces high-quality communications materials, including plans, key messages, and Ministerial briefs, and supports the development and delivery of engagement collateral across teams. They engage with internal and external stakeholders to initiate and evaluate communications strategies, maintaining efficient records and briefings for senior stakeholder approval.
Qualifications and Role Specific Requirements Mandatory A proven record of leading communications and engagement for government initiatives.Proven ability to administer straightforward contracts.Experience in utilising systems to record and manage supplier performance and feedback.Able to review Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and meet with internal customers to monitor and manage routine contract performance.Able to develop simple cost breakdown templates to use for financial assessments.Role Specific Requirements This role may involve weekend or evening work, including occasional overnight travel.How to Apply Click the 'Apply' button and follow the prompts.
