Provide advice to Project Directors, managers and other staff on strategies Prepare communication materials, media releases and Ministerial briefs Develop strategies for stakeholder management and consult with interest groups Eden Ritchie is seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Communications Advisor to join a large and dynamic transport services provider.
12 month contract Gold Coast location (Nerang) In the role of Communications Advisor you will provide strategic community and stakeholder management services to technical and professional staff for community engagement, media relations, issues management, public affairs and stakeholder relationship management.
Accountabilities include: - Provide advice to Project Directors, managers and other staff in the areas of communications strategies for difficult stakeholders and critical conversations in relation to the project.
- Prepare communications materials, including all project collateral, researching and writing media releases, ministerial briefings, newsletters, flyers, display materials, speech notes and others for the project.
- Develop strategies for stakeholder management and consult with a wide range of interest groups.
- Coordinate community and stakeholder engagement activities for road infrastructure projects in the region, including providing project managers with ongoing strategic communications advice, and developing and implementing communication strategies.
- Provide communication advice and support to the Project Directors, Communications Lead, managers and other staff in the areas of media and issues management, crisis communications, risk assessment and reporting, community engagement and communication strategies using appropriate communication tools.
- Develop, plan and manage key communication activities such as road commissioning, launches, media opportunities and other events as required.
- Provide training, advice and support to project staff and consultants to enhance communication skills and improve relationships with key stakeholders and the community in the delivery of projects and initiatives.
- Develop and implement communication strategies, activities, procedures and policies which assist the project to achieve its strategic objectives.
- Ensure operational practices and standards of service and performance comply with departmental and regional policies, legislation (incl.
WH&S), and governance obligations.
Mandatory Requirements - Current holder of a Class C driver's licence with own vehicle to attend various sites, TMR offices and face to face meetings (travel costs will not form part of the contract).
- Required to undergo employment screening (for example a criminal history check) as part of our selection process.
- Hold a Construction Industry Induction Card (White Card) or have ability to obtain within six months of starting.
- PPE – It is the responsibility of the supplier to provide the required PPE to their workers.
Due to the site requirements of this position, the successful candidate must possess the following as a minimum: o Safety boots o 100% cotton long sleeved shirt o 100% cotton long trouser o Hard Hat with wide brim attachment Desirable Requirements - A degree in communications, public relations or marketing or equivalent years work experience would be highly desirable.
- Previous experience in dealing with difficult stakeholders and critical conversations.
- Experience in major infrastructure project environments and social media competency, will also be highly regarded.
- IAP2 or equivalent training in community engagement and public participation.
- Knowledge of the infrastructure planning lifecycle.
