Located 320km south of Darwin, Katherine has an urban population of approximately 10,000, covers 530km2 and is widely regarded as the place where the 'outback meets the tropics'.
The region has a strong Indigenous heritage, unique lifestyle location and an exciting long-term development agenda focused on defence, tourism, and transport/logistics investment.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, you will provide influential and engaging leadership to improve Katherine Town Council's public image, publicised activities and enhanced community understanding of Council's role, services and achievements through effective communications and public relations materials/methods.
You will be responsible for maintaining and further developing Council's online presence and communications to improve the digital offering and to become more proactive and responsive to the community's needs.
This position is also responsible for leading the online community engagement strategies and initiatives, engaging with stakeholders, and representing Council in various external initiatives.
As an experienced proactive marketing professional, you will bring proven communications, PR, online media and content creation experience.
You know that with community consultation, using consistent branding and the power of telling a story, will create awareness and interest in this beautiful region full of amazing natural assets and the work Council does.
You have a flair for innovation, creativity, and the ability to the utilise tools at your disposal.
Working autonomously in a small team environment, you have vision and insight into what works at conceptual level but also the capacity to roll up your sleeves and get the work done.
You will require a relevant degree, and/or relevant experience and demonstrable knowledge and skills aligned to the position requirements.
You will have keen organisational and time management skills, high levels of accuracy, desktop publishing and interpretation of data analytics.
