The position of Commissioning Manager will be part of the growing Site Management & Commissioning team and report to the Senior Manager of Site Management & Commissioning. The Commissioning Manager is responsible for the commissioning of the project, with project work starting from the planning phase and continuing until the handover of the project. The applicant should have a solid understanding of fundamental electrical engineering, project management, and construction principles, as well as experience in high power electrical systems. In this position, you will work closely with the project team during the planning phase, including the Project Manager, System Engineer, Solution Engineer, and other stakeholders. At the site, you will have the technical responsibility for the execution, commissioning schedule, and commissioning resources. You will report to the Site Manager who will facilitate the administration at the site.
Reporting and Work Location: This position shall report to the Senior Manager of Site Management & CommissioningLocation: Australia remote based with time spent on site during commissioning phasesJob requires intensive travelling and the ability to stay at site during site execution for extended periods.Your main responsibilities are: Lead commissioning team at site or remotelyCollaborate with the relevant team in the preparation and coordination of project technical materialsPrepare and finalize the Commissioning PlanCollaborate with stakeholders to define and execute testing protocols to achieve commercial operation, based on market rules, local utility requirements, and contractsCommunicate commissioning plan and performance test procedures and activities with the clientPrepare and maintain commissioning time scheduleOrganize start-up and tests of equipment within the scope of the contractEnsure that commissioning plan and performance tests procedures are followedSafeguard compliance with EHS policies and minimize risks during commissioningEnsure that safe commissioning practices are followedEnsure that all test results are documented according to Wärtsilä instructionsManage integration of project quality documentation to commissioning proceduresEnsure that safe and calibrated test equipment are usedEnsure that all required documents are submitted and signed by the client for taking over of the plantCompile commissioning documents for submittal to the clientEnsure safe and reliable function of the plant and equipmentOwnership of administrative responsibilities including, but not limited to commissioning reports, issue logging/tracking, job safety analysis, quality complianceDrive continuous improvement on developing and capturing technical problem-solving knowledge to enable other organizations to effectively resolve customer problems and inquiriesEducation: Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent work experience
Experience: 5 years' experience with renewable energy: Energy Storage System and/or Solar Utility Scale, Power Systems, Transmission, Communication Network, and related Software.
Additional Job Requirements: Familiar with lithium-ion batteryFamiliar with relevant codes and standards for ESS and inverters (NEC, IBC, IFC, NFPA, UL, IEC)Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate highly complex engineering, construction and operational issuesExperience and understanding in CAD drawingAbility to execute many projects and tasks in parallel, self-directed, highly detail-oriented, organized and flexibleExperience with utility scale energy storage and renewable energy projects and productsUnderstanding of utility generation project engineering, construction, and commissioning practicesAbility to read and understand drawings of electrical controls for industrial automation, switchgear control and protection, medium voltage equipment, and networks schematicsKnowledge of multimeters, oscilloscopes, power quality analysis, harmonics and their operationUnderstanding and experience of programmable logic controllers (PLC) and industrial electronic equipment (protection relays, inverters, BMS, etc.)Experience with industrial control methods, switching processes and SCADA systemsWhy you and us: We have an amazing team and a clear purpose to exist.
