The objective of this role is to work closely with the Senior Investment Manager to price, negotiate, progress governance and execute commercial deals related to the growth of AusNet's contracted infrastructure portfolio in Development & Future Networks (D&FN).
The D&FN portfolio includes investing in large scale batteries, large transmission network augmentations and working closely with renewable generators and hyperscale data centre customers to connect to the transmission network through dedicated connections.
As the Commercial Investment Manager, you will take accountability for a number of simultaneous opportunities to ensure that the commercial, technical, financial and customer requirements are aligned and that final contracts negotiated meet AusNet's risk and return thresholds.
This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to: Lead the identification, assessment and mitigation of commercial risks through effective pricing, contracting and insurance strategies; Lead the negotiation with customers to ensure project wide value is optimised and realised across all parties involved in the transaction while mitigating risks; Lead the preparation of investment business cases for new investment opportunities in preparation for executive and board review (as and when required); Present approval papers and business cases to relevant executives and delegates in seeking approvals specific to new infrastructure deals or variations; Liaise with and build trusting relationships across the AusNet Services business with various internal stakeholders and ensure stakeholders are well informed during the negotiation process; utilising their feedback as subject matter experts, including Treasury, Finance and Legal; Lead objective commercial and pricing build up and provide commercial insights to the AusNet D&FN team; Lead and support: The submission of Business Cases for new investment opportunities; Negotiation of supplier contracts (including back-to-back of obligations with customer contracts); Capital investment proposals; Partnering arrangements; Insourcing / outsourcing decisions; Oversee communications between suppliers and contractors to ensure that AusNet D&FN can deliver projects within time and budget with sufficient contractual protections. Projects and contract values can be up to $250 million per contract; Work closely with Procurement to ensure the tenders and supply agreements sufficiently protect AusNet D&FN by ensuring relevant back to back contracting frameworks are in place between customers and suppliers to minimise direct risk to AusNet; You don't need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of: A relevant tertiary qualification in finance, commerce, law, engineering or associated discipline. Completion of post graduate studies (e.g. MBA / ICAA / CPA) and/or chartered environment experience preferred. Minimum of 7 years experience in commercial negotiations. Further experience in financial management in the energy industry or critical infrastructure is favourable. Well versed in corporate finance principles and infrastructure asset pricing. Detailed understanding of and ability to negotiate contracts, manage contracts and properly allocate risks across various stakeholders. Strong attention to detail and analytically minded. Excellent written and verbal communication skills which evidence a high capacity to influence at all levels including executives. Ability to work within and contribute to a team with team members across various disciplines including finance, commercial, technical and delivery. Good interpersonal skills that enable communication and work with all levels of internal stakeholders and external customers and suppliers. #J-18808-Ljbffr
