Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world.
In Australia, we operate five steelmaking coal mines in Queensland's Bowen Basin, and have additional joint venture interests in steelmaking coal and manganese, as well as copper exploration projects underway in North West Queensland and Western Australia.
Dawson is located at the southern end of the Bowen Basin in Central Queensland, being just over a 2hrs drive west from either Rockhampton or Gladstone, or 4.5hrs drive north of the Darling Downs or South Burnett.
Job DescriptionThe Commercial Finance Specialist will support operational leadership team members, by bringing an innovative financial lens to various operational decisions.
Provide commercial input for allocated departments, including financial analysis, reporting, and governance oversight.Support the Commercial team in completing end of month processes.Facilitate accurate and reliable forecasting and budgeting processes, with consideration to key risks and opportunities.Develop commercial insights to assist onsite teams in making better value accretive decisions for the operation.Facilitate in-depth discussion of deviations from plan, identifying and communicating operational root causes to financial performance.Support discipline managers, providing the necessary reporting tools to make informed decisions relating to asset reliability, asset life cycle management and total cost of ownership regarding equipment and assets under their control.Identify Commercial improvement opportunities, enabling effective business partnering.QualificationsTertiary qualifications in Accounting / Business discipline or similar.CPA or CA qualification, with a minimum of 5 years' post-graduate experience in either business services or a commercial environment.Knowledge of the Queensland Coal Mining Legislation is desirable but not essential.Integrated ERP system experience (SAP).Strong data analytical skills.Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across all levels of the organisation.Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.Experience dealing with complex commercial finance projects within a large organisation is advantageous.Additional InformationMonday – Friday roster.Full-time, permanent position at Dawson Mine.Residential, DIDO or company funded "FIFO" options available.Subsidised accommodation available if relocating.20 weeks paid parental leave.Generous employee share program.Biannual development planning with line leader.5 weeks annual leave + annual leave purchasing options.Industry leading remuneration and attractive yearly bonus.External education assistance, novated leasing, private health discounts, additional Anglo discounts.Gym/Health incentive + On site Physio + On site EAP.What we Offer
