Cadena Legal is a specialist law firm delivering innovative and cutting-edge tax and legal advice, personally tailored to the unique needs of its diverse Australian and international clientele. Started in 2022 by our Director, Harrison Dell, we are a new kind of law firm, combining the dynamics and efficiencies of business with the solid foundations of law, to ensure that we are always at the forefront.
Our clients come in all shapes and sizes. Client types include private clients, SMEs, blockchain businesses, DAOs, property developers, complex international businesses, and more. Some clients are small, others are listed on the ASX or manage billions in assets, and we also do everything in between. We are here to help all these clients solve tax issues, take advantage of tax and legal opportunities and execute strategies across both the Tax and Commercial Law teams.
About the Role: As a Commercial Associate, you'll be responsible for:
Independently running commercial law matters.Coordinating with and providing guidance, assistance and supervision to commercial law paralegals.Working directly with and providing assistance to the commercial law director.Providing assistance to the taxation law team from time to time.Your main objective will be to provide quality commercial and corporate legal services to our clients in conjunction with the rest of the commercial law team.
What will you do every day? Independent carriage of commercial and corporate law matters, including but not limited to conducting legal research and producing advice, incorporating domestic and overseas companies, preparing, settling and advising clients in relation to trusts and corporate structures, partially or fully drafting, amending and finalising legal agreements, and preparing various corporate documents.Drafting and sending correspondence to clients and service providers to obtain information, documents, instructions, or advice.Undertaking taxation law work, including conducting research and drafting advice under the guidance of the taxation law team.Attending client meetings from time to time with and without supervision.Attending team-specific and firm-wide meetings with directors and other staff.Satisfying Continuing Professional Development requirements to maintain a valid practicing certificate in any state.Attending the main business premises in Queensland as requested from time to time after reasonable notice is given.Attending our Sydney office (Redfern, 2016) regularly.Preparation of marketing material including videos, articles and podcasts.Attending professional events and meeting referral partners in Queensland (and other states as required).Administration duties including filing and billing in your own matters.Other relevant duties as instructed from time to time.Benefits of being part of the Cadena team: Dynamic Team Culture: We pride ourselves on our supportive and collaborative environment. For this role, we offer a base salary with a structured bonus system for high performance.Flexible Work Environment: Hybrid working on offer, with the ability to work between home and our offices.Career Opportunities: You'll be in a prime position to help shape the future direction of a rapidly growing company and grow your role.About You: Sydney based, or happy to commute to Sydney regularly.Bachelor of Law (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD).Minimum of 2 – 4 years post qualification experience in commercial law, with a strong contract drafting background.High level of Microsoft Office suite skills, particularly Outlook and Word.High level of organisation and time management skills.Sharp problem solving, networking and rapport building skills.Prior exposure to corporate structuring and mergers and acquisitions matters.Exposure to some of the market in which Cadena operates, specifically private clients, crypto and blockchain, funds management, law firms and accounting firms.Familiarity with Actionstep, Lawpath and other legal software.Experience or interest in crypto and blockchain industry.How To Apply Email us your resume and cover letter directly to for review.
