About the role
Cornish College is seeking an experienced College Accountant to join our team.
This full-time role is responsible for overseeing the college's financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
As the College Accountant, you will play a crucial part in supporting the college's strategic objectives and ensuring financial compliance.
What you'll be doing Preparing and analysing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for the college leadership team and Board of DirectorsDeveloping and managing the college's annual budget, including forecasting and variance analysisOverseeing the accounts payable, receivable and payroll functions to ensure timely and accurate processingReconciling all bank accounts and maintaining accurate financial recordsEnsuring compliance with relevant accounting standards, legislation, and internal policiesProviding financial advice and support to college departments and budget holdersSupervising and mentoring the finance team to enhance their skills and capabilitiesWhat we're looking for Proven experience as a College Accountant or a similar senior finance role, ideally in the education sectorExcellent knowledge of accounting principles, financial management, and reportingStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide strategic insightsProficient in the use of financial management software and tools, such as accounting systems and spreadsheet applicationsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levelsA relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting or Finance, and a professional accounting certification (CPA or CA)To Apply for this Position Applicants are encouraged to carefully review the Position Description available on our website: https://www.cornishcollege.vic.edu.au/about-cornish/employment/ To apply for this position, please write a letter to the Principal, Nicola Forrest, outlining your interest in this position and giving us an insight into who you are.
