About the Role As a Cloud Data Engineer in our EDAE tech area, you will be instrumental in establishing our central data mesh platform within a federated architecture.
You will leverage existing integration technologies to source data from divisional operational systems to their respective data nodes in a strategic, cost-effective, and scalable manner within a hybrid cloud landscape.
Additionally, you may have to handle legacy data formats and integrate data from legacy systems such as mainframes.
Role Type: Permanent Role Location: Brisbane Work Hours: Full Time (Hybrid) What will your day look like?
Design, build, test, and support secure, robust, and scalable sourcing tools that are agnostic of sources and sinks/targets.
Solve ambiguous and complex engineering problems.
Collaborate effectively within and across teams, tech areas, and domains.
Utilize tools and practices to build, verify, and deploy solutions efficiently, with a strong emphasis on software fundamentals.
Foster a culture within the Tribe and Chapter that encourages best practices in reviews, quality, and documentation.
Provide ongoing support for platforms as needed, including problem and incident management.
Actively participate in platform release activities, including quality review and deployment of changes.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following: Couple of years of experience building modern data pipelines/platforms using GCP services such as Cloud Build, Dataflow, Cloud Functions, Composer, Logging, GCS, BigQuery, and IAM, or equivalent experience in AWS.
Primary proficiency in Python, with experience in a secondary language such as Golang or Java.
Familiarity with CDC technologies like Kafka Connect, Fivetran, and Debezium.
Familiarity with cloud-native data engineering tools/services such as Dataflow and Dataproc.
Hands-on experience with Docker and containerization technologies.
Experience with data warehouse solutions, preferably in a cloud environment.
Strong emphasis on code and configuration management, CI/CD automation, and automated testing.
Experience delivering solutions in a complex enterprise environment.
You're not expected to have 100% of these skills.
