The State School Registered Nurse (NU6) provides nursing support to build the capacity of school staff to safely administer and manage the health requirements of students with specialised health needs, enabling their participation in an educational program.
The position requires the provision of a health assessment, health planning, delivery of relevant training, and ongoing support of school staff.
The nurse works collaboratively with the principal, therapists and school staff.

About The Role Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Form strategic partnerships with schools, health professionals, and families as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Build school staff health support confidence through in-service education and training scenarios.
Support capability building, curriculum planning, resource development, and school improvement initiatives.
Develop evidence-informed methodology to effectively implement across Queensland state schools.
Develop individual and emergency health plans to support students in education settings.
Consult stakeholders to enhance professional decision making and nursing practices.
Maintain and build safe, quality, effective nursing professional networks.
Form partnerships with other health professionals to improve collaborative practice.
Analyse policies, procedures, legislation, codes, and standards to continuously improve service delivery.
Provide high-level consultation and ensure students, parents/carers, and staff are part of the decision-making at every stage.
Actively participate in professional development and reflective practice across a multi-disciplinary sector that values your contribution.
