Charters Towers Hospital are seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse or Clinical Midwife - Child Health for a permanent full-time position.
Charters Towers Hospital is a 25-bed facility located in Charters Towers, Queensland, about 134km west of Townsville and is a level 3 (CSCF), non-birthing, 23 bed rural hospital with ambulatory services. Ambulatory services include community health nursing, child health nursing, midwifery group practice (non-birthing), advanced health worker, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech pathology and social work onsite.
Maternal and Child Health promotes the health and wellbeing of mothers, children, families and specific community groups using a range of health promotion/education and support strategies. This focuses on the social determinants of health, including maternal health and extending to adolescent health, determined by the Clinical Nurse/Midwife's qualification and scope of practice. The Clinical Nurse/Midwife provides effective and efficient primary, preventative and early intervention care and programs to individuals and groups. This role is committed to a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach that aims to support continuity of primary care for mothers and their babies, at all stages of the first 1000 days of a child's life.
The Clinical Nurse/Midwife will facilitate and provide a clinic and community-based child and youth health nursing service for Charters Towers. This includes, but is not limited to, immunisation scheduling and provision, developmental assessments, hearing screening, facilitating the school immunisation program and supporting a visiting paediatric specialist clinic.
The Clinical Nurse/Midwife is an advanced practitioner who acts as an expert resource regarding child and youth health for the facility. They work closely with the midwifery group practice, nursing services, visiting paediatric services, external service providers and the multi-disciplinary team including the advanced health worker.
Requirements Mandatory: Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent with Child and Family Health Certification or Bachelor of Midwifery or equivalent with Child Health Certification are mandatory qualifications for this position. Drivers Licence: This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate license endorsement to operate this vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be provided prior to the commencement of duty. Travel: Please note, from time-to-time this position will be required to travel to, and work at, other facilities located within the Rural Hospitals Service Group network to participate in meetings for planning, quality, performance, training and education, or clinical activities. This may involve day and/or overnight stays. Travel on small planes or ferry may be required. The successful applicant/s will need to be able to commit to this requirement. Generous remuneration package value up to $132,289 p.a. comprising:
Wage rate ranges between $4138.10 - $4431.10 p.h. (NG6-1) Annual leave with a 17.5% loading. 12.75% employer superannuation contribution.
