Budja Budja Aboriginal Cooperative – Ararat VIC
Budja Budja Aboriginal Co-Op is a community controlled Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health service.
The Budja Budja Aboriginal Cooperative Ltd. was established by the CEO and Elder, Tim Chatfield, in 1999.
Its aim is to deliver a range of cultural, medical, health and wellbeing services to both the local Indigenous and non-Indigenous community.
Budja Budja is the Traditional Aboriginal name for Halls Gap.
The Clinic is located in Ararat, in Djab Wurrung Country.
The OpportunityThe Clinic Medical Coordinator will be responsible for directly managing and associated administration of all BBAC's Clinical services, including staff supervisory duties incorporating service and patient care coordination and planning, service delivery by team members, program development and implementation, program monitoring, reporting and evaluation.
Monday to Friday 8.30am -5.00pm
The Role
Tasks will include but are not limited to:
Oversee daily nursing activities, rostering and schedulingStaff training, competency and mentoringAllocating and managing resourcesClinical safety oversightPromote communication and collaboration amongst team membersStock ordering and maintenanceVaccination and Infection control and managementRequired Knowledge and ExperienceThe successful applicant will have:
Current AHPRA Registration5+ years prior experience working in a clinical or healthcare settingAnalytical thinking skills and the ability to exercise sound judgement when making decisionsPatient service oriented and prepared to liaise with patients, their families and other care providersOrganised and detail orientedExperience managing a small team of health professionalsKnowledge of Aboriginal issues in health and its importance in ensuring delivery of culturally safe servicesDemonstrated capacity to be culturally aware of the needs and demands of BBAC's Aboriginal communities serviced by the mainstream and other Aboriginal health servicesSound understanding of Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs) and the issues facing these organisations in their service deliveryHighly developed communication and interpersonal skills including advocacy and consultation skills and the ability to proactively establish and sustain effective stakeholder relationshipsA demonstrated capacity for team management, decision-making, effective teamwork, and the capacity to build respectful relationships with clients in a primary healthcare settingStrong organisational skills, the capacity to successfully manage competing priorities, maintain attention to detail and meet deadlinesAble to maintain patient confidentiality and professional boundariesMaintain client files and collect data and report on required outcomesSound understanding of, or willingness to learn of Aboriginal and Torres strait Islander's culture and family groupsExperience with Medical Director (an advantage)About you
