The role of Clinical Forensic Medicine Registrar is an opportunity to try something unique and rewarding in a stimulating environment.The VIFM offers 6-month placements which are accredited with the RACGP, ACEM, RCPA Faculty of Clinical Forensic Medicine and RACP Sexual Health Chapter. Current vacancies are in the first half of 2024.The Clinical Forensic Medicine Registrar placement offers a non-hospital-based experience in a well-supported setting. During this placement you can expect to acquire practical, sought-after skills that you will utilise throughout your career, such as:Injury documentation and interpretationClinical photographyForensic evidence collectionMedico-legal reportsEthical issuesExposure to court evidenceWorking with policeYou will be part of the Clinical Forensic Medicine team responsible for the delivery and coordination of forensic services to the living. Clinical forensic assessments are provided to both alleged victims of crime and alleged perpetrators as part of supporting justice services in Victoria.These forensic services are provided to a range of Justice agencies across Melbourne and regional Victoria.The Clinical Forensic Medicine Registrars work in close collaboration with a range of health care and social welfare service providers and Victoria Police to facilitate the delivery of care and investigative services by these agencies and organisations.You will have access to academic activities through the on-site Monash University Department of Forensic Medicine as well as a variety of other VIFM forensic practitioners which includes forensic pathologists, forensic anthropologists, forensic toxicologists (pharmacology), molecular biology scientists and forensic dentists.This position is for the delivery of services predominantly within the metropolitan Melbourne service.What we offerOpportunity to work with world leading experts across multiple areas of Forensic MedicineDedicated education sessions with experts designed to enhance clinical forensic medicine skills and gain insight to associated forensic fieldsAccess to employee wellbeing programRequirements:Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS), Doctor of Medicine or equivalentGeneral and/or Specialist registration as a medical practitioner by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or ability to obtain such registration.A minimum of 2-3 years post graduate clinical experienceYour application will include the following questions:How many years' experience do you have as a Registrar?Which of the following statements best describes your right to work in Australia?Do you have a current Australian driver's licence?Do you have a current Working With Children (WWC) Check?Are you currently registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)?We are a leading forensic medical and scientific institution located in Victoria, Australia.
