We have an exciting opportunity for a Director Apprentices and Trainees Program to lead the implementation of a $252 million initiative to shape the future of local government workforces.
As the Director Apprentices and Trainees Program, you will be at the forefront of the Government's flagship apprentice and trainee program, designed to support local councils in developing sustainable, future-ready workforces. Your leadership will drive the design, delivery, and evaluation of frameworks, grant programs, and related activities, ensuring long-term success for local government sector workforce planning. Your role will also include leading the development of government policy and guidelines to strengthen the local Government sector's capacity to support trainees and apprentices and to guide Government decision-making around future programs.
A key aspect of this role will be identifying apprentice and traineeship program needs across multiple stakeholders and aligning these to the overall objective of this newly funded program. This will include building and maintaining collaborative relationships with councils, committees, and other key stakeholders to foster engagement and program success.
About You To be successful in this role, you will be a strategic leader with a deep understanding of workforce capability and training programs, combined with experience in delivering impactful initiatives. You will also possess comprehensive knowledge of workforce training programs and have proven expertise in workforce capability development.
The key to your success will be exceptional leadership and communication skills, coupled with your ability to influence and engage with stakeholders across diverse settings. You will also have strong financial acumen and experience in managing large budgets and grant administration. It is essential that you have demonstrated success in delivering apprentice and/or trainee programs that drive measurable outcomes.
An understanding of workforce development and the challenges facing local councils, and the broader public sector workforce will be highly regarded.
