Location ProfileDandenong Valley SDS is a specialist school located in Narre Warren Victoria. We cater for students with significant intellectual disability. The school facilities include a PMP room, a Hydrotherapy pool, a sensory garden, horticulture centre, bike track, fitness room, engine room, sensory room, and generous sized classrooms. Our enrolment criteria are moderate to severe intellectual disability and students must reside within our transport zone.
Students at our school range in age from Foundation to year twelve and we also have an Early Education Program for children from 2.8 -4.8 years.
The senior transition program caters for students who are in their last two years of schooling, providing diverse learning experiences in preparation for post school options and adult life.

RoleThe classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges- range 1 and range 2. The primary focus of the classroom teacher is on planning, preparation, and teaching to achieve specific student outcomes.
Range 2 classroom teachers will be expected to:
- Have the content knowledge and pedagogical practice to meet the diverse needs of all students.
- Model exemplary classroom practice and mentor other teachers.
- Provide expert advice about content and strategies for professional learning.
- Supervise and train student teachers.
- Assist staff to use student data to inform teaching approaches.
Range 1 classroom teachers focus on developing skills and competencies to become effective practitioners with structured support.
ResponsibilitiesThe role of classroom teacher may include but is not limited to:
Direct teaching of groups and individual students;Contributing to curriculum development and evaluation;Undertaking classroom teaching related duties;Participating in parent/teacher meetings and staff meetings;Undertaking non-teaching supervisory duties.Who May ApplyTeachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach in the specified curriculum area(s).
