GFL Environmental is looking for a Class 3 Front End Driver to join our team in Victoria, British Columbia! As a Class 3 driver, you will be responsible for safely, efficiently, and courteously providing waste removal services to customers.

The primary focus of this role is waste collection and transportation, operating a Front Load truck along your assigned route, and properly disposing of all waste at GFL facilities.
The driver must be comfortable operating a Front Load truck.
A day in the life of a Solids Collection Front Load Driver:Upon arriving to work, meet with the team, assess all equipment and upcoming routes, and prepare for the day aheadYour morning tasks may include:Driving and operating a Front Load Vehicle on assigned routes, mechanically collecting wasteTransporting all collected solid waste to post-collection facilitiesManeuvering truck in and out of minimum clearance spacesUsing a key map and GPS to locate service addressesFollowing safe operating practices, including lock out or tag out proceduresCleaning loose trash off the truck or ground around truckMaintaining a clean site along roads and highways by tidying container spills that occur during dumping processSubmitting pre-trip and post-trip inspections and/or vehicle condition reportsInteracting with customers or general public in a courteous manner along designated routeNotifying management of any issues along collection routePerform afternoon tasks, either continuing tasks from the morning or starting new onesBefore heading home, appropriately store equipment and lay groundwork for a smooth next day*schedule may vary depending on the day-to-day, start time, etc.
What's required:High school diploma or general education degree (GED)Possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class 3Minimum 1 year of commercial driving experience OR CDL school certificateAbility to control operations of equipment; maneuvering truck in and out of spaces, using mirrors to back distances of approximately 120 feet or moreKnowledge of trucks, their components, and the basic maintenance requirements for safe operationExert physical effort including pushing, pulling, bending and lifting items up to 50 lbs.Use fine motor coordination with arm, hand, finger and leg dexterityAbility to kneel, crawl and climbSitting is required 75% of the timeWorking Conditions:Will vary based on weather conditions.May include exposure to dust, noise, heat, cold and fumesAbout GFLAt GFL our goal is to invest in our people and provide opportunities to grow, for life!
