About Us The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria statutory authority and has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state.
The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, equating to approximately 90 percent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year.
The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible, and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.
About the Role The Registrar - Court Co-ordinator is responsible, in conjunction with the Supervising/Coordinating Magistrate, for case flow management within the Court, ensuring all legislative requirements are met.
This role has significant technical components as well as team leadership and people-management components and, therefore, requires someone who has both an advanced understanding of the Court's protocols and procedures and well-developed team-leadership experience.
The position operates within a complex, demanding and sensitive environment that requires the capacity to exercise sound judgement, liaise effectively with the Judiciary, senior officers of the courts and government departments and build relationships with key stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include: Supervising and assessing case workloads and listing practices and procedures.Monitoring the performance outputs of the Court and the demand pressures on its facilities.
Maintaining liaison with the Supervising/Coordinating Magistrate and Senior Registrar of the region in relation to the Court's resourcing requirements and adopting flexible solutions to achieve cost-effective outcomes and improved service delivery.Analysing and interpreting data and statistical information to recognise trends and to make recommendations regarding resource allocations to resolve operational service delivery problems consistent with Court objectives.Performing appropriate legal, administrative and quasi-judicial functions relating to the day-to-day and ongoing operations of the Court, under limited direction.Contributing to the development, evaluation and implementation of new policies and procedures that enhance the Court's operations, resource allocation and work organisation, to achieve the Court's strategic objectives.Managing work teams to ensure that staff attend professional development programs, are rotated to maximise their learning opportunities, knowledge and skills and are provided with regular feedback regarding their performance.About You Certificate IV in Government (Court Services) or equivalent.Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage a consistent flow of matters and conflicting priorities.Strong management of stakeholders including Judiciary, legal professionals, service providers and court users.Advanced Civil jurisdiction skills will be beneficial as well as leadership and the ability to share information to develop trainees and to provide advice and input on policy and procedures.How to apply Click the 'Apply Now' button, ensuring you include the following in your application:
