Citizen Advocacy Coordinator

Capricorn Citizen Advocacy seeks a mature minded, competent person who has a strong understanding of social devaluation and is willing to learn how to use the Citizen Advocacy framework to respond to the person's situation.Citizen Advocacy is based on the principles and values of Social Role Valorisation, so an in depth knowledge of this theoretical framework will be beneficial.This role entails establishing and supporting freely-given relationships between resourceful members of the community (Citizen Advocates) and people with disabilities (Protégés) who are vulnerable, often socially isolated, and who have unmet needs.Responsibilities:Establish and support relationships between Citizen Advocates and Protégés.Coordinate a Citizen Advocacy program in the Rockhampton and Capricorn Coast communities.Minimum Requirements:Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Well connected within the Rockhampton and Capricorn Coast communities.Eligible to hold a Blue Card (Working with Children card) and Yellow Card (NDIS Worker Screening card).Current Qld 'C' class driver's licence + personal motor vehicle (car) for work-related purposes.Intermediate to advanced computer skills including familiarity with MS Office 365 and Client Record Management Systems (IVO would be an advantage).Position is for 18 months Fixed Term with possibility of extension or permanency.
