About the Role As a Residential Support Worker, your role involves creating a secure and nurturing home environment for Children and Young People who have experienced childhood trauma, abuse, or neglect.
Your responsibilities include delivering personalised support and guidance, fostering the development of independent life skills, assisting with emotional regulation, and providing opportunities for re-engagement in education and community activities.
Successful candidates will have prior experience working with children and young people and possess a comprehensive understanding of childhood trauma and its impacts.
These newly created positions will be based in our Geraldton houses.
Casual and permanent full time or part time roles available.
To be considered for these opportunities, you must live within the Geraldton area.
Part time and casual shifts typically occur between 2pm and 8pm on weekdays, with various morning and afternoon shifts on weekends.
Full time contracts include: Promote and assist young people to achieve goals identified in Individual Case PlansAssist young people to develop independence and build community networksSupport the young person's interestsEstablish a rapport and collaborate effectively with young people to achieve positive outcomesManage behavioural escalations and assist the young person to co-regulate emotionallyDomestic duties and supporting the young person to learn how to look after themselves eg cooking, housework, laundryCommunicate with the care team and report incidents promptly and accuratelyMedication administration (when required)Maintenance of progress notes and record keepingSkills & Experience Certificate IV in Youth Work, Mental Health, or relevant qualification (or willing to obtain)Experience working with young people who have experienced significant trauma and neglect, including the management of behaviours of concernAbility to demonstrate highly effective interpersonal skills with young people and stakeholdersDemonstrate confidentiality and have strong understanding of professional boundariesExperience working with young people from indigenous or other cultural backgroundsA current Provide First Aid CertificateA current Drivers LicenceSuccessful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check, Department of Communities Check and Working with Children Check.
