Child Welfare, Youth & Family Services (Community Services & Development) The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health Ltd was established by its founding members to provide a coordinated/integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within the Southeast Qld Region.
The Quality and Innovation Unit supports core IUIH Network functions including policy, planning, system innovation and improvement, new service design and development, along with data, research and building the evidence base in urban Indigenous health.
About the Role This role works primarily within IUIH's Child and Youth Families Team and provides specialist Child Safety advice to the Birthing and Early Childhood (BECs) Team. The vision/mission of BECs is to provide healthy, strong and vibrant children, families and communities. This is achieved through providing integrated health and social support services. The role will require weekly-regular work on-site with our BECs services predominantly at Salisbury and other southside sites.
Day to Day duties include: Lead expert Child Safety Engagement as part of IUIH Birthing and Early Childhood (BECSs) expansion to provide further integrated and coordinated care. Role includes developing and maintaining Child Safety Service Centre relationships when advocacy is required on behalf of Birthing and Early Childhood (BECs) families across the IUIH Region and particularly those engaged at BECS South Salisbury. Includes engaging and maintaining relationships with CSOs, Team Leaders, Managers, Senior Practitioners and Regional Directors as required on behalf of families and community.Further lead/assist/continue established practice and policy process that IUIH has with Child Safety such as HALT participation, Regional Unborn practice forums and other relevant Child Safety activity.Lead engagement within System of Care that supports families in this sector. This includes but not limited to Family Participation Programs (FPP), Family Wellbeing Services (FWS), Intensive Family Support (IFS) and support services in areas of Housing, DFV, NDIS and Legal when required.Contribute to BECs and IUIH Child Safety Training and for BECs be a point of contact for the workforce relating to Child Safety policies and processes this includes our Midwifery partners.Provide technical advice and facilitation of relationship management where requested with external stakeholders, including government, non-government and community controlled, to advance the vision and operations of IUIH Network services for children and families.About You Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD)Current Criminal History CheckCurrent Blue CardDesirable, but not mandatory Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and/or communitiesWhat Can We Offer?
