Location:The purpose of the Child Safety and Wellbeing Service is to support the Department in creating a child safe culture, implementing strategies, and taking action to promote child safety and wellbeing. Reporting to the Principal Policy Officer, you will work within a small team of dedicated staff in delivering child safeguarding training, education, and advice. The position is primarily located in the north, with the capacity to travel to the northwest.
The Role: The Child Safety and Wellbeing Service is a unit within the Department of Health, with the Child and Youth Safeguarding Advisor operating within the statewide Child Safety and Wellbeing team. The Child and Youth Safeguarding Advisor supports and guides the development of the Department's child-safe culture, providing advice, delivering training, and building relationships with workers, including staff, students, volunteers, contractors, and other external stakeholders. The functions of the Child and Youth Safeguarding Advisor play an important role in liaising with workers regarding the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people.
You will need: Demonstrated knowledge, participation, and experience in undertaking child safeguarding activities within a healthcare or equivalent setting, including actively promoting principles, policies, and procedures around mandatory reporting, with experience in facilitating and delivering multi-modal education and training to adult learners and providing individualized support as required.Well-developed interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills, including the demonstrated ability to support, advise, and motivate workers, and effectively liaise with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.Ability to work in a complex and sensitive environment, united by our shared purpose and model our CARE values, understanding of trauma-informed principles, ability to apply this approach to the delivery of child safety and wellbeing programs, and demonstrated high levels of personal resilience, flexibility, and perseverance.Details of appointment: Fixed-term part-time, day worker position, working up to 60.8 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of 12 months. Notwithstanding, hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full-time, part-time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $98,255 to $103,096 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
