DescriptionThe Queensland Government Department of Health, also known as Queensland Health, plays a vital role in the state's health system. As part of this effort, they provide leadership and direction to ensure that healthcare services are effective.
Pathology Queensland (PQ) offers laboratory services across various disciplines, including anatomical pathology, chemical pathology, haematology, immunology, microbiology, and genomics. These services support hospitals and health services across metropolitan, regional, and remote areas of Queensland.
The Chief Pathologist at Pathology Queensland is responsible for providing clinical leadership to ensure high-quality pathology services are delivered to Queenslanders. This position involves overseeing all public sector pathology laboratories in the state, ensuring they meet quality standards and deliver best practice diagnostic services.
In addition to these responsibilities, the Chief Pathologist will lead the quality and safety agenda within Pathology Queensland. This includes establishing and maintaining an effective clinical governance framework and reviewing significant clinical incidents and complaints.
This role requires strong professional leadership skills, with a focus on supervision, teaching, performance management, workforce planning, and clinical research activities. The incumbent will work closely with Medical Directors to achieve these goals.
