As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Chief Legal Counsel to join our team.
This role will be based in Sydney, Australia.
Position Overview: Reporting to the APAC Legal Director and ANZ Managing Director, the Chief Legal Counsel ANZ will partner closely with our ANZ MD and other ANZ business leaders to ensure legal compliance of corporate and business matters.
Here are some of the EXCITING things you will get to do: Oversee legal matters for Australia and New Zealand, providing occasional support for other Asia-Pacific (APAC) countries as needed.
Advise ANZ senior leadership on legal compliance related to corporate and business activities.
Conduct legal and regulatory research, providing support and analysis.
Offer professional advice and manage disputes, litigation, regulatory issues, and other contentious matters.
Draft and review a comprehensive range of commercial and legal documents.
Translate legal documents and company correspondence as required.
Stay updated on new laws and regulations that may impact on the company.
Liaise with and maintain good cooperation with external professionals and regulatory bodies.
Deliver internal training on legal issues and risk management.
Manage the filing and organization of correspondence and documents.
Participate in various ad hoc assignments as needed.
Experience: Bachelor's degree in law (LLB); Australian Legal Practice Qualification is a plus.
APAC practice is a must.
Minimum of 8 years of legal experience with reputable law firms or multinational corporations.
In-depth knowledge of Australia and New Zealand legislation with a general understanding of regulations across the Asia-Pacific region.
Strong legal expertise combined with robust business acumen.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; self-motivated, capable of working independently, under pressure, and meeting deadlines.
Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
Exceptional research skills, good interpersonal abilities, and sound judgment.
Native English speaker or proficiency in both written and spoken English.
Occasional business travel may be required.
