Chief Financial Officer

Details of the offer

Government - Local (Government & Defence)
Drive innovation and strengthen corporate services in one of Australia's most unique regional councils.
Barkly Regional Council spans an extraordinary part of Australia, centred on Tennant Creek and stretching across diverse communities, each rich in culture, history, and unique landscapes.
Covering nearly 323,000 square kilometres, Barkly's region offers a blend of rugged natural beauty, diverse First Nations communities and close-knit community spirit.
This environment provides an engaging lifestyle, balancing outback charm with the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in regional Australia.
As the Chief Financial Officer, you'll report to the Chief Executive Officer, taking charge of Barkly's core operational areas, including finance, governance, IT, and risk management.
Your focus will be to strengthen the council's financial performance and streamline its operational frameworks. You'll oversee budget management, ensure rigorous governance standards, and lead initiatives that drive sustainable growth and high-quality service delivery across the region.
Your strategic insight will be essential in navigating the unique challenges of remote service provision while aligning operations with community-focused goals.
We're seeking a capable and strategic leader with extensive experience in corporate and financial management. Ideally, you understand the unique context of regional and remote councils and can effectively manage large-scale budgets, governance practices, and operational frameworks.
You'll be a collaborative and forward-thinking professional, skilled at developing relationships and fostering an inclusive and responsive workplace culture.
Working with Barkly Regional Council offers:
An opportunity to lead meaningful work in a role with real impact, addressing unique challenges that shape lives and strengthen communities.
The chance to join a dedicated team that values resilience, resourcefulness, and a commitment to making a difference.
A key leadership position with a council committed to ongoing professional development and community-focused improvements.
