Full Time8 Jan 2025DescriptionBoccia is a unique sport, specifically designed to include people with significant physical impairments including the most severely affected.
Boccia was originally played by athletes with cerebral palsy, but now includes athletes with other impairments that affect motor skills.
The sport is contested at national and international levels, having made its Paralympic debut in 1984.
Most recently, it celebrated success with two silver medals at the Paris Games.Boccia Australia is seeking a dynamic and visionary Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead our organisation in fostering a vibrant and inclusive boccia community.
The CEO will be instrumental in strengthening our culture, executing strategic initiatives, and enhancing participation in the sport.
This pivotal role will drive boccia's growth potential and establish Boccia Australia as a recognised leader within the National Sports Organisation for Disability (NSOD) sector.Key Responsibilities of this role will include:Implementing Boccia Australia's strategic plan to maximise growth potential.Position Boccia Australia as a leader within the 'Play Well, Win Well' framework.Establish and lead all aspects of Boccia Australia's participation program to drive significant growth.Implement initiatives to engage new players and retain existing participants.Oversee all business functions, including financial management, in collaboration with suppliers like the Australian Sporting Alliance for People with a Disability (ASAPD).Ensure operational efficiencies that allow sport delivery staff to maximise their contributions.Serve as the primary contact for senior management from key stakeholders, including the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) and state delivery partners such as Sporting Wheelies and Boccia NSW.Foster strong relationships with media and external partners to promote boccia and enhance its visibility.Qualifications and Experience:Relevant tertiary qualifications in business or sport administration or equivalent.Strong, effective leadership skills with the ability to inspire others to achieve the identified strategic goals of Boccia Australia.Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.High level commercial and financial acumen, including capacity to interpret and report on financial accounts.Experience developing and setting a strategy and communicating vision that inspires staff, athletes and key stakeholders to envision future success.Eligibility Requirements:Applicants must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident.Preferred applicants may be the subject of police record checks and working with children checks.Applications are welcomed and encouraged from the diverse Australian community including people with disability, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people of all ages, and those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.National Police / Criminal History CheckWorking with Children / Working with Vulnerable People CheckClick the 'apply' button, review the position description, follow the prompts and submit your CV including your vision for the role.Applications will close at 11:59pm AEDT on the 8th January 2025.Boccia Australia would love to hear from you, regardless of whether you meet all the above criteria.
