Chief EngineerThe Chief Engineer is responsible for the entire engineering operations of the hotel's systems, plant, and equipment. The management of the department's team members and ensuring the budget is utilized efficiently and effectively ensures the hotel is able to deliver exceptional guest experiences. Key responsibilities also include ensuring Australian building compliance requirements are met, acting as Chief Fire Warden, championing hotel environmental and sustainability initiatives, ensuring Hilton Brand Standards are adhered to, and maintaining the hotel's assets.
What will I be doing? As Chief Engineer, you will oversee the engineering operations for both exterior and interior facilities, including electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, painting, plumbing, heating, cooling, ventilation, structural elements, landscaping, and car parks. Your role is essential in maintaining the hotel's facilities, ensuring a top-quality experience for our guests, and safeguarding the well-being of all stakeholders.
Lead the Engineering Team in the day-to-day engineering and maintenance operations of the hotel, including service standards, equipment schedules, safety protocols, and work schedules.Implement and maintain our preventative maintenance program to ensure all equipment and facilities are in good working order. This includes guest rooms, public areas, BOH spaces, and the overall façade of the building.Monitor and coordinate the services performed by outside contractors in accordance with all contracts and service agreements.Collaborate with departments like Housekeeping and Front Office to ensure seamless operations while ensuring timely responses to service requests from guests, team members, and management. This includes addressing the repair and replacement of all furniture, fixtures, and equipment.Plan, implement, and administer an effective preventive maintenance program in accordance with manufacturer recommendations, government legislation, and good engineering practices.Ensure that systems like HVAC and fire safety are functioning properly, and address repairs or upgrades as needed.Plan, implement, and administer an energy management program by analyzing and modifying operation and plant and equipment to conserve energy and introduce sustainable systems and equipment.Conduct ongoing inspections of building and facilities to ensure compliance with Workplace Health & Safety, Fire, or any other pertinent legislation and take necessary action to maintain compliance.Manage the maintenance budget, including tracking expenses and identifying cost-saving measures.Coordinate renovation bidding, define the cost and scope of the project, and oversee the general contractor and subcontractors to ensure quality work is performed cost-effectively.Be prepared to respond to emergencies, such as equipment failures or natural disasters.The Chief Engineer is also responsible for the development of the Engineering Team and staying abreast of compliance regulations and procedures in the field of Engineering, as required for hotel standards.What are we looking for?
