Chief Counsel Permanent, Full Time with monthly day off Based at Box Hill Hospital (close to cafes & shops) Unique and exciting senior legal opportunity! About the role The Chief Counsel is responsible for the provision of sound legal advice and for the delivery of a full range of legal services to all areas of Eastern Health including its Board of Directors, Board Committees and the Eastern Health Foundation.
The Chief Counsel leads and co-ordinates a small team of staff to achieve Eastern Health's objectives in the provision of legal services. The Chief Counsel is accountable to the Chief Executive and works closely with the Chief Executive, the Executive Management Team and all members of staff including clinicians.
About you To be successful in this role you will possess:
Demonstrated skills in conflict resolution and litigation. Demonstrated skills in drafting complex contracts and Memoranda of Understanding Ability to consult and collaborate with others and work as an effective member of a team to deliver organisational outcomes. Proven ability to command trust and respect at all levels of an organisation. Admission as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria and hold a Practising Certificate pursuant to the Legal Profession Uniform Law (Victoria for at least ten (10) years after admission Please refer to the attached position description for further details of the role. Vaccination against infectious disease is a mandatory requirement of this role. An offer of employment is conditional on you providing evidence that you are currently vaccinated against COVID-19 with booster & Influenza, prior to commencing employment.
