Chaplaincy Assistant and Operations OfficerThe Armidale School ('TAS') is a co-educational Anglican boarding and day school with a Junior School (Pre-Kindergarten to Year 5), Middle School (Year 6-8), and Senior School (Year 9-12). The School has an enrolment of approximately 680 students, including over 230 boarders.

Role Statement The Chaplaincy Assistant / Operations Officer is a dual-role position that supports the Christian ethos of the institution while supporting the efficient operation of school facilities, including the School's Agriculture Precinct. This role involves providing pastoral care, coordinating programs, and supporting the operational functions of the School to foster a supportive and engaged community.
This role is an ongoing full-time position (term time only), commencing Term 1 2025.
Requirements of the Role Pastoral Care Support: Assist the Chaplain in providing guidance and support to students, staff, and families.Organise and facilitate bible studies and theological education services.Program Coordination: Plan, implement, and evaluate chaplaincy programs and events.Collaborate with student leaders and faculty to encourage participation in chaplaincy initiatives.Manage logistics for events, including venue booking, materials preparation, and communication.Administrative Duties: Maintain the chaplaincy calendar, scheduling of meetings, and events.Record and track attendance, feedback, and outcomes of chaplaincy programs.Prepare and distribute newsletters, announcements, and promotional materials related to chaplaincy activities.Community Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with the local church, community organisations, and support networks.Represent the chaplaincy at community events, meetings, and outreach programs.Develop and implement outreach strategies to engage the School community in chaplaincy initiatives.Operational Support: Assist the agriculture staff in the maintenance of facilities and the management of livestock and general farm operations.Assist in the management and welfare of animals (in co-ordination with Head of Agriculture and teaching staff) including feeding, handling, letting out animals in the morning and locking animals up in the afternoon.Undertake general farm operations such as spraying, farm maintenance, mowing/slashing, yard cleaning.Assist in the general maintenance / upkeep / cleanliness of all Agriculture practical facilities.The ability and willingness to feed and monitor the welfare of animals at School during School non-term times (in co-ordination with the Agriculture teaching staff and Maintenance staff members on a flexible basis ensuring animals are provided for at all times).Qualifications Previous experience in chaplaincy, theological studies, pastoral care, or community service roles is required.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an empathetic approach.Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse environment.Experience managing farm and livestock desirable.NSW Heavy Vehicle Drivers Licence.Personal Attributes Commitment to the Christian values and mission of the institution.Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations with discretion.Organised, proactive, and capable of managing multiple priorities effectively.Child Protection The Armidale School is fully committed to the protection of children and young people during all School activities and environments both within and outside of school hours.

Remuneration Package and Conditions Salaries and conditions for the position are governed by the 'Independent Schools NSW (Support and Operational Staff) Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2021 ('MEA') or any instrument that replaces this MEA.
