Board Appointments (CEO & General Management) Government - Federal (Government & Defence) The Australian Sports Foundation is Australia's leading nonprofit sports charity and fundraising body, established by the Australian Government in the 1980s.
Today, the Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors and managed by a Chief Executive Officer and a small team.
Sport in Australia has a powerful ability to improve mental and physical health, as well as educational and economic outcomes for individuals and communities.
The Australian Sports Foundation has a strategic agenda to grow donations to sporting projects and initiatives leading to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Applications are sought for a Chairperson and a Non-Executive Director to join the Board, supporting the organisation in achieving goals across fundraising, philanthropic contributions, strategy, risk management, governance, and business performance.
Candidates should be experienced governance professionals based anywhere across Australia who possess a genuine desire to commit their time and capabilities to enhance the Foundation's work.
Candidates will need to demonstrate exceptional leadership, judgment, strategy setting, understanding of government administration, and the highest levels of professional integrity.
Strong alignment to the Foundation's mission and vision is important.
Candidates with the following experience will be considered highly desirable: Sport sector leadership as an administrator, athlete, or official Finance, audit, and risk (with experience sitting on or chairing a Finance, Audit and Risk Committee) Candidates for the Chair will need to demonstrate experience chairing the board of an organisation of similar complexity.
The Board meets quarterly in addition to strategic planning days and an Annual General Meeting.
Remuneration is set at $37,040 for the Board Chairperson, $18,520 for Non-Executive Director, and a supplement of $10,160 for the Chair of the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee.
