About Central Gippsland Health
Central Gippsland Health (CGH) is a sub-regional health service and the major provider of health and aged care services in the Wellington Shire.
CGH is located in the City of Sale which is 215 km east of Melbourne.
The City of Sale is an ideal access point for the magnificent Gippsland Lakes, 90 Mile Beach and the Victorian Alps.
CGH provides acute care as part of an integrated service delivery model across Wellington Shire and beyond.
The service provides beds across three campuses (Sale, Maffra and Heyfield).
Acute services include a full-time emergency department, critical care unit, neonatal critical care unit, three operating theatres, day procedure unit, oncology and dialysis services in addition to general medical and sub-acute services including rehabilitation.
CGH is also a leading teaching hospital, affiliated with Monash University's School of Rural Health and provides placements and clinical experience for students.
About Department
The Work Health and Safety Unit works closely with the Quality Unit within the Quality and Learning Division.
The Work Health and Safety Unit is a dynamic department that consists of the Manager and the Manual Handling Coordinator.
About the Role
Reporting to the Director Quality and Learning, the Manager Work Health and Safety (WHS) will lead and implement a contemporary health and safety function across the health service while working collaboratively with all levels of Management, Staff and Health and Safety Representatives.
The Manager WHS will be responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of safety programs and systems for the health and safety of all staff, patients/clients and visitors of Central Gippsland Health.
Duties
Take a lead role with the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of CGH OH&S policies and practices to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety policies, relevant Acts, Regulations and industry codes; Management responsibilities for the Manual Handling Coordinator; Ensure appropriate systems are in place for the identification of risk factors and develop risk reduction strategies in collaboration with relevant Managers; In partnership with the RTW Coordinator, undertake statistical analysis of injury and accident rates; Lead and monitor a Disaster Preparedness team to ensure CGH is well placed to manage both internal and external disasters effectively; Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field; Experience in a Health and Safety role or similar; A background in health, whilst not essential, would be well regarded.
