We collaborate with Defence to develop highly modular and scalable products that have become integral to a broad range of critical Defence capabilities.

The Position
Purpose Statement - The Engineering WHSE Officer will provide support to the Engineering department on a broad range of WHSE matters.
This role supports effective implementation and communication of the CEA WHS Management System within Engineering, and provides meaningful feedback to WHSE on the safety and environmental needs and challenges on the technical sides of the business.
Your responsibilities will include:

Provide advice and support to Engineering duty-holders on engagement with the centralised WHSMS to meet legislative and ISO requirements.
Assist leaders and duty-holders within the Engineering department in understanding applicable WHSE roles, responsibilities and compliance obligations.
Monitor Engineering for compliance with required WHSE requirements, including (but not limited to) WHSE training and competency, machinery/plant/equipment servicing and inspection, risk management and control, safe systems of work etc.
Assist with administration of WHSE documents such as risk assessments and safe work instructions for the Engineering department, including formatting, editing, seeking approval, disseminating, implementing and monitoring for effectiveness.
Assist in management of Hazardous Substance registers, including development of chemical Safety Data Sheets, where applicable.
Facilitate support for incident and near miss investigations within the Engineering department, including Return to Work and injury management when required.
About You

Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety or relevant experience in WHSE and Engineering roles.
Understanding of ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 14001:2015, compliance and audit requirements.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
Keen observation skills to monitor the risks within the workplace and identify risks or hazards.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to evaluate impact of changes to work conditions.
An understanding of Engineering and Production industry work environments.
An understanding of WHS and Environmental legislation and requirements (ACT and other).
Eligibility

An Australian Citizen; Eligible to obtain and maintain an AGSVA clearance (NV1/ NV2).
The successful candidate MUST be able to obtain clearance prior to commencement.
ITAR (Impacted positions only) - This position requires employees to access equipment and data that is subject to U.S International Traffic and Arms Regulation (ITAR).
