Pulp- Book Cafe & The Manor (Wedding and Function Venue) Nicholls, Canberra is seeking an experienced Chef (or a high-performing culinary professional who is willing to challenge themselves) to join our culinary team. You will be expected to lead the delivery of exceptional service to diners and function attendees. Your key responsibilities will include:
Day-to-day production and assisting with oversight of all food produced and served.Production of various cuisines and service styles including buffets, canapé, formal dinners, and cocktail parties.Ensuring only the very highest standards of food presentation & creativity.Inducting and training staff as required.Assisting with the management of staffing requirements.Ensuring adherence to good practice stock management, including ordering.Supervising and coordinating the kitchen.Briefing kitchen and FOH staff on all aspects of food service.Maintain compliance for both customers and the company to health and safety best practices.To be the successful applicant for this role you will be a qualified chef with at least 4-6 years of experience in high-quality hospitality venues (Fine dining experience will be looked upon favourably). Additionally, you will demonstrate:
Proven and successful skills in kitchen and team management.A focus on providing exceptional culinary service.A strong understanding of all aspects of kitchen communication, product storing, menu planning, and disciplines.An ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.A strong knowledge of food handling and hygiene principles.Be computer literate (Microsoft applications and experienced in the use of ordering systems).An ability and an interest in building strong working relationships with our team (kitchen staff, management, and FOH staff).A strong experience in wedding functions, events, café or restaurant operations.Be motivated, driven to excel, innovative, and follow and adopt culinary trends.Leadership and experience in being part of a professional kitchen team.Recent food handling training and a Food Safety Supervisor certificate.Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Casual
