The Role: Sitting within the marketing team, the Category Specialist will support the Category Manager across profitable growth and management of their categories across the global regions in which this business operates. This role will focus on category financial, promotional and insight analysis as well as managing trade and consumer activations.
Key Responsibilities: The Category Specialist requires an expert ability to gather competitive intelligence, acquire and organise category insights, and present analytical data in a manner that supports sound business decision-making. The Specialist will provide data-driven recommendations for product assortment, pricing, and promotions and work closely with sales teams to align marketing activities with sales objectives.
Assume responsibility for Master Data Management and the regular reporting of category performance.Manage Price Books and Product Catalogues.Prepare Bulletins and Presentations as required to support Category Communication.Lead the acquisition, analysis and dissemination of market, product and UX insights.Benchmark, analyse and report on competitive products and companies.Create reports and dashboards to communicate findings to stakeholders, including sales, marketing, and management teams.Support product range reviews including gap and differentiation analysis reporting.Support new product launch planning, supersessions and lifecycle management.Support category strategic pricing and follow positioning guidelines to achieve share and margin growth targets by region.Brief members of the marketing team on requirements for sales support, training, advertising, lead gen and promotional requirements.Develop, lead and report on promotional activities aimed at retailers and distributors to increase category success.Support activation and management of trade and retail visual merchandising.Key Requirements: Strong analytical capabilities using Excel spreadsheets / Macros.Tertiary qualification in Marketing, Business or Commerce related discipline.3 years + in a similar product, category or trade marketing role.Advanced presentation development skills.Promotional pricing and positioning experience.Experience in either trade, manufacturing or automotive industries would be highly desirable.Experience with data interrogation to deliver customer insights.Category, Business and Commercial Acumen.Excellent relationship and consulting skills.Project planning expertise.Excellent stakeholder coordination.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.A naturally curious problem solver who gets things done.This is a fantastic growth opportunity to be part of a high performing team, that offers an engaging team culture, a supportive environment and career growth opportunities.
