Known for our wide range of quality products and exceptional customer service, we are looking for motivated and experienced casual Retail Sales Assistants to join our new and exciting Essendon location, to deliver outstanding service to our customers and their pets.
Role Review As a Retail Sales Assistant at Habitat Pet Supplies, you will play a crucial role in delivering outstanding customer service and driving sales. You will be the face of the brand, assisting customers in finding the right products for their pets and providing expert advice on pet care. The role requires a customer-first approach, ensuring each shopper has a pleasant and satisfying experience. Additionally, you will work as part of a dynamic team, contributing to a collaborative and positive store environment.
Key Responsibilities · Greet and assist customers with enthusiasm, understanding their needs and providing expert recommendations on pet supplies and products
· Actively engage in the sales process, helping customers select products, explaining promotions, and upselling where appropriate to meet store targets
· Maintain up-to-date knowledge of pet care products, including nutrition, grooming, and accessories, to confidently assist customers
· Work closely with other team members to ensure smooth store operations, supporting your colleagues as needed and contributing to a positive team culture
· Assist with stock management tasks, including restocking shelves, managing product displays and performing inventory checks, including supporting the stocktake process
· Ensure the store is clean, well-organised, and presentable at all times, following store procedures for merchandising and safety
· The ability to accomplish set tasks efficiently, within the allocated time frame
· The ability to heavy lift up to 20kgs
· The ability to conduct yourself safely in the workplace, using your personal responsibility to manage risks and report hazards
· Flexibility with work hours, including week days, weekends and public holidays.
Key Skills · A sound understanding of the health and care of pets, including dog, cats, small animals, birds, reptiles and fish (preferred)
· A genuine love and concern for the wellbeing of animals
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment
· Ability to work effectively as part of a team, supporting and assisting colleagues
· Basic math skills for handling transactions and processing payments with accuracy.
