Case Worker/ AOD - Aboriginal IdentifiedNote: This is an Identified position for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People.
Aboriginality is a genuine qualification authorised under Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination ACT 1977.Wellington Aboriginal Corporation Health Service (WACHS) is an Aboriginal community-controlled health organisation that aims to empower Aboriginal people to take control of their individual, family, and community health and wellbeing needs through our clinical and community programs.
Our main services are in Wellington, Dubbo, Moree, Western Sydney, Penrith, Nepean, and Blue Mountains, and we provide outreach services to other towns and communities through our regional programs.
About The Position The Alcohol & Other Drugs Support Worker is a key member of the Social and Emotional Wellbeing Team, responsible for delivering culturally sensitive and respectful drug and alcohol support services to Aboriginal people.
This role focuses on providing holistic and client-centred support to individuals and families affected by drug and alcohol issues.
Key responsibilities include: Assess client needs and provide appropriate referrals to drug and alcohol counselling services.Provide health promotion and education to individuals, families, and communities on drug and alcohol issues.Input client data into the Communicare database.Act with tact and diplomacy when dealing with information of a highly sensitive nature.Demonstrate awareness of and sensitivity to Aboriginal culture and history, and current issues affecting the lives of Aboriginal people.Minimum Requirements: Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs (or willingness to obtain).First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain).CPR Certificate (or willingness to obtain).A Certificate of Aboriginality.A Current National Police Check.A Current Working with Children Check NSW.Current Driver's License that allows you to drive in Australia.COVID-19 Vaccination and Booster information (or evidence of a valid medical exemption).Your application will include the following questions:
