A full-time Carpenter position is available in Cairns, QLD 4870.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE The role requires you to hold at least a relevant AQF Certificate IV + 1 year of full-time relevant employment experience. If no relevant qualification, at least 3 years of full-time relevant employment experience is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES The Carpenter will be responsible for executing a range of carpentry tasks, including constructing, installing, repairing and maintaining structures and fixtures made from wood and other materials. The role involves working on both residential and commercial projects, ensuring high-quality craftsmanship, adherence to safety standards and timely completion of work.
DUTIES Construct, assemble and install frameworks, structures and fixtures such as floors, partitions, windows, and doorframes in line with project specifications.Perform renovations, repairs and maintenance of wooden structures, including roofing, flooring and cabinetry.Measure, cut, and shape wood, plastic and other materials accurately using hand and power tools.Read and interpret construction blueprints, sketches and detailed plans to determine specifications and material requirements.Follow detailed instructions from project managers or supervisors to ensure that work is completed according to company standards.Ensure that all carpentry work is performed to a high standard, with close attention to detail.Inspect completed work to ensure it meets relevant building codes and safety regulations.Make adjustments or repairs as necessary based on supervisor or client feedback.Comply with all workplace health and safety regulations, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.Identify potential safety hazards on-site and report them to the supervisor to prevent accidents.Maintain clean and safe working environments, ensuring that tools and materials are stored properly.Communicate effectively with clients, ensuring that their needs and expectations are understood and met.Provide updates on project progress and address any concerns or issues as they arise.SKILLS Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and other carpentry equipment.Strong understanding of carpentry techniques and building materials.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Strong communication skills and the ability to interpret technical drawings and plans.Attention to detail and precision in executing tasks.SALARY $65,000 - $75,000 based on experience.
