The Role:Deliver personal care as delegated by the NUM, under the supervision of a RN or Enrolled Nurse (EN) according to the nursing care plan and within the scope of the Care Assistant Workplace Guidelines.Assist patients with aspects of daily living under the supervision of nursing staff.Assist with the management of behaviourally challenging patients to maintain a safe working environment. This may involve physical restraint of resistive patients.The Team:The Wilfred Lopes Centre is a specialised mental health facility located in Risdon Vale, Hobart, near Risdon Prison; however, it is not a part of the Prison.We provide care and treatment for people with mental health issues who are involved with the criminal system.We manage behaviours associated with behavioural disturbance, such as verbal and physical aggression and self-harm. All staff are provided training in de-escalation and physical restraint.Those in our care may be inmates of the Tasmanian Prison Service, are appearing in or remanded from the Magistrates or Supreme Courts, or may be community clients presenting risks to themselves or others.Our staff enjoy free on-site parking and are eligible for an additional 6.5% correctional allowance.Details of appointment:Multiple permanent, full-time and part-time shift worker positions available, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible. Notwithstanding, hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary: $60,666 to $63,222 pro rata per annum + our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.You'll have access to salary packaging and a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
