Iluka offers an empowering and inclusive work environment that is as diverse as the communities in which we operate.About The RoleWe are seeking an experienced Capital Accountant to join our Finance team on an 18-month fixed-term contract (parental leave cover).You will be empowered to make appropriately supported decisions in relation to all capital and project matters and exercise judgment in determining whether to escalate issues to the Finance Lead.The successful candidate will be expected to develop a thorough understanding of applicable policies and processes and the ability to apply them to operational situations.A key aspect of this position is assisting in the preparation of the yearly capital plan. This involves liaising with the site business analysts and project managers as well as maintaining the fixed asset and project registers for the Iluka Group in accordance with applicable Iluka policies.Your accountabilities will include:Assess major expenditure proposals to ensure that they comply with Iluka policy and a correct assessment of capital vs. operating expenditure has been made, including escalation to the Finance Lead where necessary (either due to complexity or materiality)Ensure that all projects are opened and closed in a timely mannerMaintain master data for operating, mining, capital, research & development, cyclical maintenance, and rehabilitation/mine close projectsPerform reconciliation of the projects module to the general ledger in SAP Maintain and file appropriate working documents to support movements in projectsLiaise with the external engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) teams on large projects to ensure SAP expenditure reconciles to their systems, where not already performed by those teamsEffectively managing multiple large projects simultaneouslyEnsure completed projects are transferred from assets under construction to the fixed asset register. This will involve liaising with project managers, engineers, and maintenance, to ensure completed projects are closed and transferred in a timely mannerAnalyse project expenditure and ensure an auditable link is present between expenditure and project asset listingsAnalyse monthly depreciation movements and post depreciation to operational cost centresPerform reconciliation of the fixed asset register to the general ledger in SAPMaintaining and filing appropriate working documents to support movements in the assets moduleAbout YouThe successful candidate will have:Qualifications in accounting, business, tax, law, or engineeringCPA/CA qualifications preferred, either in progress or completedDemonstrated experience in managing projects, fixed asset registers, and work-in-progress accounts.(preferably in a mining environment/similar role)Sound relevant technical accounting knowledge and system skillsStrong interpersonal and customer service qualitiesAbility to problem solveStrong analytical skills, including proficient in use of ExcelExperience working with SAP or a similar ERPExperience in data analysis (analytics)SAP experience in the FI-AA and PS modules highly desirableOur Offer To YouYou will be supported, empowered, included and encouraged to be the best version of yourself.Your contributions will be recognised through a supportive work environment and by being part of a values-driven company that is dedicated to your professional development.If you share our values of Integrity, Respect, Courage, Accountability and Collaboration; and you have the skills and experience to help us to succeed and deliver sustainable value, apply now.Full working rights in Australia are required for you to be eligible to apply for this role.Applications Close: 1 July 2024"We respect and encourage diversity in a workforce that reflects our communities."
